KoWi
Kooperationsstelle EU der Wissenschaftsorganisationen

Mission
  KoWi, the European Liaison Office of the German Research Organisations, is financed by the German Research Foundation (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, DFG) as a Central Research Facility and supported by the "Association for the Promotion of European and International Cooperation in Science".
  KoWi provides information, consulting and training services to enable the successful participation of researchers in Germany within the European Research Framework Programme.

Clients
KoWi services are available for all German research institutions, with a focus on universities and other higher education institutions.

Consulting on proposal writing and project implementation as well as strategic consulting for universities
Training and practical support on how to obtain funding and manage EU projects
Meeting facilities in Brussels

With premises both in Bonn and Brussels, since 1990, KoWi has been in close contact with other research organisations, with national authorities on federal and regional "Länder" level as well as with the relevant EU institutions concerned with research and development. KoWi is part of the self-governing system of science and acts as an intermediary between the EU institutions and the German scientific community. On a European level, KoWi closely cooperates with the research offices of the Informal Group of R&D Liaison Offices (IGLO).

KoWi supports European research cooperation activities of higher education institutions and non-university research institutions in Germany. Furthermore, Kowi acts as a service platform for the members of its Association.

Members of the KoWi Association are: Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (AvH), German Federation of Industrial Research Associations (AiF), German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), German Research Foundation (DFG), Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, Helmholtz Association of German Research Centres (HGF), German Rectors' Conference (HRK), Max Planck Society for the Advancement of Science (MPG), The Stifterverband joint initiative of German industries to promote science and higher education, Leibniz Association (WGL).
